Nature's Quilt

Posted by
Richard (Ellemford, United Kingdom) on 18 July 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Took this photo yesterday morning half a mile across the hills from our house looking up the valley of the River Whiteadder. It's a tributary of the Tweed, the river after which the cloth is named. I just love the way these fields of gold (barley) are so defined in the landscape.

Mostly I write books and other things that people pay me for. What I'd like to do is to take more photographs. Ideally I'd like to try combining the two at some point in the future. . .

Andrea from Regina, Canada

I love the colours and patterns and mood of this photo. Why is it that Scotland's fields are so much more poetic and romantic than the Canadian prairies'? Perhaps because I've been reading Jane Austen this week...

19 Jul 2010 1:12am

@Andrea: Thanks! Austen will do that to you.
